help please, i seem to have broken my pc/internet connection. Up until 10min ago all was fine but for some reason everything shut me out (ie mse/ebay/ebayforums) unlogged me from all of the above, this didnt bother me thoughas sometimes once my avg has run it does this. However this time it wouldnt let me into anything. i couldnt sign into mse... i got a lot of error messages and when i tryed to log onto any part of the ebay site it would send be back a page (if that makes sense).
I am running firefox but this happened in ie too... i have deleted all my cookies/saved passwords etc on both, i turned off everything (inc modem) and rebooted... it still will not work
I am now typing this on my brother laptop with his internet connection (i have bt broadband, he has virgin media) to the same house.
at the momment my pc has ran avg and thats clear i ran spybot and that came back clear, i dont know why its just not letting me log on/stay logged onto internet sites/forums... as i say this morning it was working fine.
any help appreciated:kisses3:
*sorry about the typos, not used to typing on a laptop after not using one for so long*

Try connect your PC to his broadband and his laptop to yours - that way you will know if its the PC or your connection that is causing the problem. That is the first thing to try anyway.
Although, why do you have two broadband connections in the same house - seems odd.Faith is believing what you know ain't so...0 -

That you PC on your net connection?
Sounds like the PC isn't picking up a connection, either because there isn't one there (line fault) or there is something on your PC preventing it from establishing a connection - its easier if you can eliminate one of those possibilties first. If its a problem with the line you will have to get in touch with your ISP or wait for them to fix it. If its a PC problem then its probably some setting that changed recently...Faith is believing what you know ain't so...0 -

yes cerro, my connection... i dont think thats the case though as i can browse everywebsite its just when i want to log onto site or check emails... the connection seems fine even when you check with my isp online they have no problems in any of my areas... my inital feeling is my browser isnt letting me login, however for it not to allow it on ff and ie is a mystry...0 -
You could use system restore and go back to last check point to see if that fixes it.0

Ahhh now I get you... that will be a local system setting on your PC. Since you recently updated your firewall that is a possiblity... have you updated anything else recently? Windows or some other related software? Anything like that could have altered a security setting which prevents you logging in to anything. This might be a daft question but are you also manually typing in your passwords - since i read you deleted all your cookies/saved passwords?Faith is believing what you know ain't so...0

dounome ~ i system restored to yesterday and its exactly the same

cerro ~ i dont have a firewall except the one windows has on its software, i havent updated anything except my avg updates... i updated itunes for my ipod but thats it... i dont update most things. Yes i am manually retyping all my passwords and user names, but they are all correct. i seem to be stumped with this one:o0 -
Are you saying that you can browse normal http:// sites (e.g. https://www.moneysavingexpert.com, bbc.co.uk, etc.) but not secure sites (https://) - sites where you have to log in?.
Try downloading and running https://www.ccleaner.com.
Also, in IE try Tools - Internet Options - Advanced - Reset.0 -
chippy... i can view https sites but they will not stop refeshing for ages (like my email) then once they do i still cant login as it kicks me back out... done the ie thing and no change
