Change in mobility will my DLA stop

Hi I hope someone can help.
I had to go to appeal tribunal to be awarded DLA approx 2 years ago, at that time I had been diagnosed with arthritis in my knee ( other health problems were my main reason for applying)
I now have osteoarthritis in both hips, bottom of spine, shoulders and hands and walking is now very difficult.
I want to inform the DWP with a view to being re-assessed for higher rate mobility but I am frightened that they will stop my DLA payments altogether while they look into this,or assess me for PIP.
I would be grateful for any advice on this especially if you have personal experience of applying for a higher rate than originally assessed for.

Many thanks

Decided to bite the bullet and phone DLA.
Spoke to a very nice lady who said she will send the form out but the whole claim will be re-assessed, so it is UP TO ME whether I think it is worth returning the form!!!!!
The main thing is, while being re-assessed my DLA will stay the same, which was my main concern as I thought it would have to be a new claim all together and I would lose what I am currently receiving.
She also pointed out that my DLA could be reduced or stopped altogether if they no longer think I am entitled, but having recently changed from IB to ESA and been put in the Support Group, I don't think that is likely (arthritic fingers crossed)
As always I will be totally honest about my condition and just hope for the best.

  • They will look at the whole claim again. It is best to get some advice about whether it will be worth making a fresh claim by going to CAB or a local carers charity that helps people fill out the forms. They will be able to see if you stand a chance of getting a higher mobility award.
