Default advise please

Hi all,
Just after a little bit of advise regarding a delayed default put on my credit file. I entered into a Dmp in Nov 2010, 3 of my debts are with the natwest, 2 x credit cards, 1 x overdraft. My credit file shows I defaulted 1 Credit card debt in January 2011, the 2nd card debt defaulted in Febuary 2011, which was what expected, but the overdraft wasn't defaulted until June 2012, which I only found out about 3-4days ago when looking to change mortgages! I was pretty surprised at that as obviously I'd entered a DMP, so the Natwest were aware of my financial situation, at every annual review on the DMP I've managed to up my monthly payments. Is this common for the default to go on credit file such a long time after all others??
Many thanks
Andy

Hi
It does happen, but it can be worth trying to challenge the default entry date on your credit file. Some people have had success in doing this when in a DMP.
The ICO guidelines on filing a default do have some useful parts that it could be worth quoting to them to try to get it corrected.
ICO Guidance - Filing defaults with credit reference agencies
Will find links to a couple of threads that may help....

Hiya Tixy, thanks for reply, a little more info as just come to light after receiving a call from Natwest, as stated the overdraft that was defaulted 18 months later than my other debts, they have admitted they made a mistake an the alleged correct date should be 31/5/12, they are changing the date to the date they are claiming to be the correct 1, also sending me £50 cheque as compensation!! I asked for the date to be amended inline with the other 2 either January or Febuary (refused) can I take this any further..
Thanks Andy0 -
So are they just backdating it by a month?
You/they didn't mean May 11?
May 11 would probably be just around within a reasonable timescale for a DMP starting Nov 10, but May 12 appears to be unfair/unreasonable.
I would try challenging it further and writing to them.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Hiya again Tixy,
They are back dating from 30/9/12 to 31/5/12. Which I still believe is quite a long time 15 months!! Is there a link with address on to challenge date, or would it be better to get in touch with CRA an get them to dispute it?
Also just another 1, what is probably in wrong forum but apologies if it is!!
I had a ICA acc that run alongside current account (1 with overdraft) the ICA was £227.59 in red(not in DMP as forgot about ICA) the wife kindly transferred the 227.59 to clear the ICA arrears, natwest are now claiming the money went into my current account to reduce my overdraft, so my ICA is still 227.59 in Red. Is this common practise? So instead of having the overdraft debt I've now also got the ICA debt!! The said money was transferred on 3/6/11 to clear ICA! But Natwest only just informed me that its still in arrears!! Hope this makes some sense!!0 -
ICA should be ISA sorry0

I'd be asking how a savings account can be in arrears, if I'm honest.

CKZhalvashi, good point, I've just phoned Natwest an asked how this is possible, an they claim that I had 20 odd pound in the account, then he told me 250 had been either DD or SO out to DCP! I've not got a clue who they are an by the sounds neither do Natwest!!0

Well after doing abit of googling etc I've found to DPC meaning that it could be, 1) delayed payment charge
2) direct billing (similar to backs)0
