NoI spend more time on my iPad these days than anything else. I find my laptop and PC are cumbersome and take too much time to boot up ready to use compared to my 'always on' iPad. By the time they've booted up I've often forgotten what it was I was booting them up for in the first place!
For more 'in depth' games I use my PS3 or Xbox 360.
I mainly used my laptop and PC for online gaming (Final Fantasy XI) for many years but since I've stopped playing it I rarely use either now. It's consoles or iPad all the way for me these days.
The PC gets booted up mainly for photo and video editing now. When I replace it I'll be replacing it only for those purposes when I'm looking at the spec.0 -
The problem with gaming on a laptop is they might be able to run the games at an acceptable framerate but they really don't like doing it. They get very loud and very hot. Not to mention the fact they're obviously not very easily upgradable making them poor choices for gaming really.0

Why are they not easy to upgrade?? when the last time you try this.... as very easy now.... only awkward one is RAM stick as thou they work on most motherbored some motherbored dont like them, In fact shops now make it even easier for you now they sell bundles that will work together, in bundle i mean CPU, MOBO & RAM only.. any graphic card will work on your PC as most PCI Express & PCI slot are backward... harddrive will work on any PC....
I brought my 1st PC for 500 quid in 06 and since just upgraded ever since... wasnt hard to learn just google.
As for slow boot up... mine boot from switch to windows in 7seconds... but then again you prob never tried SSD or PCI SSDs (these are super fast) and windows was intalled before the kettle boiled, Only down side is they expensive to upgrade i spend about 700 on PC every 2 years....0 -
NoI have a gaming PC with massive RAM, monster graphics card, surround sound and large dual monitors.
Trying to play the type of games I habitually play on a laptop would be most restrictive. The screen is far too small, it would have to have a good dedicated graphics card & lots of RAM to even begin to cope.
The laptop keys are more cramped to use than my large desk keyboard and my 5-button mouse and Razer eXactMat are necessary tools, so it'd all have to be placed on a desk anyway.
PC wins!0 -
NoGaming - PC all the way. Mouse and keyboard all the way. Don't think I could have done it on a laptop. Gaming sitting position has to be right. Just wouldn't feel right on a laptop, and game consoles are just blah! Tried Wii and Xbox and connect, didn't like either.
Now even with me having very little use out my left hand, I've given up gaming rather than try the others :rotfl:4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -

I'm only talking about laptops, I was comparing them to desktops in fact.0 -
NoI built myself a new PC a few months back and didn't even consider a Laptop - I like the ability to upgrade and repair my system easily
That and I loath the keyboards/trackpads on most laptops, and by the time you've allowed room for an external keyboard/mouse you're taking up nearly as much room (desk space) with the laptop as PC that is cheaper/easier to repair/upgrade.0 -
Not had a desktop for years.
If I had more time to game these days to justify spending money on a gaming PC, and a place to set it up properly/permanently, I may consider it though.
I like good gaming experiences but am not too hung up on higher res = better game, and the PS3 has suited me for the last few years.
Laptop - Civ
PS3 - action, RPGs, shooters, LBP
iPhone - quick fixes
DS - mario kart
Wii - periodic Wii fit0 -
Yes - More portable, I like to game on the moveGot a laptop with discreet graphics 3 years ago. It's served me very well, but is now getting too long in the tooth for new games. I haven't had a desktop PC for games for a decade, Consoles have filled the void.
However, I'm getting back into some serious flight sims, and I think I'd really feel the benefit of some more grunt. I'm considering building a desktop PC this time around.0 -
NoNope. It's much cheaper to build a powerful PC than it is to buy a powerful laptop, and gaming on the move isn't a priority to me, so I would just leave gaming for the PC and use my crappy laptop for Office and surfing, and not much else. It couldn't even handle the new Monkey Island demo and just about handles the Sims 3, so I'm not even gonna think about games like Skyrim! And I'm not willing to shell out tons to by a new lappy, nor upgrade the hunk'o'junk (TM).0
