No Fixed Abode.

Options
We have just sold our house and will be staying with our kids for a few months until we find another house.

Apart from the problems of storage ( we are moving from one part of the country to another) I have started to think of a few more..

Notification of change of address. As we will get our post redirected we will leave this until we move into our new house but what about car insurance, driving licence etc?

Setting up new accounts. One of our phone contracts comes to an end in a couple of months and we want to move to another provider. I suppose the only way to do this is to get the new contract now because the new one will be refused if we have no fixed abode/electoral register entry.

Is there anything else I should put on the list?

Good point but is it worth the hassle?

We might move into our new house in a couple of months but it might be a lot longer if we can't find the right house or there is a long chain.

I suppose we legally have to tell certain organizations but others can wait until we have a new fixed address.

Worth the hassle compared to what? Not being able to get post or sign up for stuff? Only you can answer that. :)

You're lodging with your kids. It's a perfectly valid living arrangement which would usually be listed as "living with family" in those drop down menus that you sometimes see when suppliers ask about your living arrangements.

    .

I have been thinking about it and maybe it is worth the hassle. I was originally thinking that I would have to write and post loads of letters but in reality I could do most of it online and on the phone.

I have also just read post 4 in this thread https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4056963
