Aqualisa thermo valve - on/off control

I have the Aqualisa Aquarian Thermo surface mounted shower valve, model E99.
The on/off control has been getting increasingly stiff to operate.
I was going to remove the shroud cover and squirt in some WD40, but when I phoned Aqualisa they advised against it. They say I probably need a new cartridge, which with fitting is £230
.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Buy one yourself for iro £ 100 and DIY it. Lots of "how too" instructions on t'interwebz and as its surface mounted its a breeze.

Thanks, keystone, but you would not believe how incompetent I am at DIY. And if anything went wrong, The Boss Lady would give me such stick . . .

Most likely a build up of limescale. Are you in a hard-water area? Dismantle and remove the cartridge, soak it in vinegar, then replace it.If my post hasn't helped you, then don't click the 'Thanks' button!
