You should try eBid, there are no fees over there!0 -
I sell mostly old books, often for 99p and often they've gone abroad. Unfortunately with new fees that's impossible, as 9% on the £7+ postage plus all the other fees means I would be seriously losing money. Basically means most of my stuff unsaleable now, as if I put up start price I don't get the interest...if I limit to UK, I've shrunk my market.
Many sellers on ebay sell low cost products and when they realise they could be paying more than they're earning there will be a mass exodus.
A shame for collectors as they will now have to hunt in different places for their bargains!
I understand some people were misusing the system and loading postage, but this approach is really cutting of your nose to spite your face!0 -
Why is free postage so important to some of you? Take the price of the article, postage costs and how much you want it into account. If you still want it buy it, if not- move on. Don't expect sellers to subsidise your wants, needs or dreams.
Amen! I could not of put it better myself. And it's those same idiots who would leave feedback but leave you less than 5 stars in the postage category, giving eBay what it desires, namely a great share of the profits.
In the mean time, I still have to
1)Buy my stock
2) Pay for the packaging and materials
3) Pay for postage
4) Pay my taxes (I do this for a living)
It's a bleeding liberty when, as I see it, I have helped these mutts become what they are as I've maintained a loyalty I should not have.
for anyone interested, there is a petition I have going on this subject. Some characters on here are trying to mock it but 143 people in 2 weeks can't be wrong
Search "Investigate if eBay's new policy of charging 10% for postage costs is legal"0 -

Try tictail or search FREE E-COMMERCE sites. Doing this and blogging, you might be able to develop your own biz. In mean time, if you really feel strong about this, please support my petition

I read the petition, if anyone missed iteBay Europe are now deducting 10% from their postage costs after years of trying to force sellers to send items shipping free and take up Amazon's market share. It has been explained to me that this equates to a tax and an illegal tax as apparently you can not tax a business expense. I would like this to be investigated and for all deductions to be refunded in the same way PPI has been refunded
I know I've asked before, instead of petitions and campaigns, why would you not just put your efforts into selling elsewhere?.0 -
That told any nay sayers. 143 in 2 weeks? Really? You won't even have to wait 3 years to get to 10,000 at that rate.
I read the petition, if anyone missed it
Who told you that it "equates to ... an illegal tax"? Was it someone with legal knowledge or someone from In The Night Garden?

Ouch, I never actually read the petition but that is poorly worded to get people to want to sign. I particularly like the reference to Amazon, who as we all know (or apparently not) have been charging fees on postage for years.
My earlier point about the OP misunderstanding why PPI was refunded in many cases has also been ignored.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. cuddly ebay, arent they lovely rewarding all their sellers who offer free postage (hugs) ..... How are they rewarding sellers who offer free postage ? are ebay going to share out the extra fvf revenue to those sellers ? ... not all sellers inflate their postage costs as ebay put a cap on what you can charge and since royal mail increased their prices this is now in some cases lower than actual postage costs (not counting the packaging side of the P&P) .... in the old days sellers overcharged on the postage to avoid the fees but ebay (rightly) closed that loophole years ago come on ebay stop over egging your good citizenship status ... youve increased fees by the back door ! simplesss0

you cant always add 69p to the postage costs as in a lot of categories ebay put a cap on what you can charge for postage & packaging cost ... in a lot of cases with the increase in royal mail prices this is now actually lower than it actually costs to post (not counting packaging)0
