Advice re : Brand new car?

Hi - looking for some advice.
I took delivery of my 63 plate car 3 days ago and it is making an awful noise from behind driver seat. After taking to garage - one mechanic said it may be normal for the engine and the other said it is the fuel pump causing the problem and offered to replace this tomorrow. He seems confident it will sort the issue and I have left the car with them.
1) Does this affect my right to return the vehicle if the problem persists that I have accepted the repair to be carried out?
2) The car is financed, but as I am within 7 days of collection and the fault (as identified by the dealership) has been there since collection - am I in a position to hand back the vehicle with no penalty and cancel credit agreement?
I have obviously made the dealer aware as they are trying to fix the issue and I have also given a courtesy call to finance company to make them aware there is a fault with the vehicle. Anything else I should be doing at this stage?
Thanks in advance.

You need to afford him the opportunity to fix the car, it is generally accepted that they get 3 attempts to do so.
After which you can reject.
Have a look in honestjohn he has an article on it and the procedure.0 -
Have to be truthful I would not want a car that was only 3 days old and had developed faults already. Just would not have the confidence in it.
Have the garage given you a hire car, are they being helpful about things?0 -

So if for example it had a fauly alternator you would want a new car?0 -
The 7 day thing is a bit of a red herring - IF you can cancel the finance, it's the finance thats cancelled - not the purchase. You'd have to settle the balance of the car (i.e. £xx,xxx) in cash up front.Nothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.0

Thanks for the responses. Latest update is that the dealership contacted me yesterday to advise that a 'different new fuel pump' is required which is on back order so there is no time scale as to when it will be back in. They have advised me that there is no risk of damaging the car by continued driving in interim or they have offered me a hire car (not the same as the model in which I purchased) until such time they can replace the pump (could be weeks).
I have elected to have a hire car delivered and have left the 'faulty' 3 day old vehicle with them. The preliminary view of the sales manager is that they would only consider rejection of a vehicle an option if it was a 'serious fault which they could not identify or fix'.
Interested on other thoughts on this?? I just feel that this is a reasonably 'minor' fault, but one which has been present since the day of purchase in which they cannot give me a timescale on when it will be remedied. I am now without the product in which I purchased and wish to consider my options regarding rejecting the vehicle under the Supply of Goods (Implied Terms) Act? Thoughts please???⚠ 2014 - COUNTDOWN TO INDEPENDENCE ⚠0 -
