I've done something stupid and I'm wondering if anyone can give me some advice.
I completed a booking online with the above company today at around 4:05pm. I was then called a few minutes later and told that there would be an additional fee of £60 for a one-way journey. I was a little surprised, and didn't know what else to do other than accept it.
I immediately tried to cancel this but was told that I would lose my deposit as I hadn't cancelled at the first opportunity - I suppose this is true, but I'm wondering if this is actually something that I could appeal against.
I've sent a polite email to the people explaining the situation, and that I'd be disappointed if they chose to keep my deposit for a booking that existed for a matter of minutes. Realistically, do you think I have any chance of getting the deposit back?
If not, as I paid by credit card, do you think a chargeback would be an option?
I realise this is probably my stupid fault and I'm extremely angry with myself, but I'm hoping there may be a light at the end of the tunnel - the deposit money is not something I can afford to lose.

If they are part of rental cars and I suspect they are, from memory if you only pay a deposit it is non refundable if you cancel.
If you had paid the full amount up front then it is all refundable if you cancel.
I guess they will argue that you are in the non refundable catergory but that they gave you the chance to cancel with a refund? when they asked for the extra0 -
That's pretty much what I thought. It's a sneaky way of doing things though, to tell you after you've booked that actually they're going to hack up the price a lot more!
I can try and console myself with the fact that even with my lost deposit, I'm still saving £55 by going with another company, but it's not much of a consolation really...
Thanks for the reply though, even though it wasn't what I'd hoped for!0
