santander 123 credit not allowed to over pay is this right?

I had a tesco credit card and could pay as much as i liked off over the account due to clear it , thus reducing the next months bill so if i was making a big purchse i would make sure i was under the limit, but my santander i cant. not sure if im doing something wrong. my husband and i use it jointly free for the first yr, so obviously use it for everything to get the cash back, but keep reaching the limit. we now want to use it to buy a computer so i tried to pay some off, it said you can over pay by 100.00 but refused it due to technical fault. I always clear it every month.

Do you mean you have balance on there that you want to pay against, or you have a zero balance and are hoping to increase your available limit?0

no i have a balance, they have taken out last months payment to clear that bill, but we have spent a lot and ages befor next payment goes out on DD. so i wanted to pay some off in adavance to bring it down thus leaving room to buy the computer.0

Then it's just a temporary system glitch. You can make manual payments to any card.0
