Hi, I need to ring an 0845 number from my landline (I am with sky for phone and line rental). How does this site work, I just call the 0208 number? Is your call still confidential if you go through one of these site? Thanks

After you have opened an account with 18185 online, just call the 0808 1 703 703 number (so Sky don't charge you anything), wait for the voice prompt and then enter your target 0845 number with a # at the end.
18185 will charge you 5p connection + 3p/minute. (whereas, unless you have either the Sky Talk Anytime UK or the Sky Talk Anytime International calls package (on which 0845 calls are inclusive), Sky would charge you 13.87p connection + 6.63p/minute).
The call will be as 'confidential' as any other on the PSTN.
N.B. The above assumes you cannot find a geographical or freephone alternative to the 0845 number (e.g. on www.saynoto0870.com)Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0
