Sheppley Crossing + Fog = No Lights?

Well if they had no lights on at all then they are still caught in my sweeping statement of "people who didn't turn their foglights on"
But yes that's definitely a higher tier of idiocy than those who had lights but no fogs, since I guess it's possible to just not react in time when there's a sudden incline into the mist.
I guess it's because of people like this that we're all saddled with having to look at cars fitted with retina burning LEDs glued to the front bumper like it's christmas.0 -

If you can see the car 100m ahead of you then you don't need rear fog lights - so if you can see the vehicle or streetlights 300m ahead of you then you don't need to use your rear foglights. And you don't need them in queuing traffic....victor2 wrote:Even more front fog light use is unnecessary!
Seems to be a "look what I've got" syndrome.0 -
All the German makes do that one..
So annoying. Front fogs should mostly be used for when you can't see much beyond the end of your bonnet.
That said, there are certain circumstances where, on my car, sides + front fogs gives you better visibility than both dipped and full beam.0 -

I think that was in reference to the group of people that drive around with the front fog lights on when there's no fog at all.All your base are belong to us.0 -
Hardly anyone on motorways bothers to maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front.
On the M5 today there was a collision involving seven vehicles. I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often given that at peak times, most vehicles in lane three maintain a distance of less than one car length...0 -
I think driving in fog at night is a lot more safer... at least you have more chance of other drivers having their head lights on!PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. You should always obtain face to face professional advice before taking any action.0

rear fog lights on my car is only on one side, and is about 1/3 brighter than the normal tail lights, does it make much difference?0

As others have said, speed and proximity of cars to each other were probably bigger factors in the crash than lights. As soon as one car braked there would have been brake lights to see, but drivers behind were clearly too close / travelling too fast to react in time.0 -

Although I can be picked up for this view, I believe it will need a lot more of these multiple collisions before 'something' is done about what we all know and complain about.
Enforcement will only improve once the carnage reaches a certain, unacceptable level.
Exactly where the Government has set that level is anybody's guess? No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -
My biggest problem with rear fogs is when they arte on both sides (and switched on) they can be so bright you just don't notice when the brakes go on and you lose a good few yards before you realise the car in front is slowing.
In slow moving traffic rear fog lights are very tiring to drive behind.0
