Prize hasn't turned up after chasing-should I forget about it?

I got an email on 26th July saying I was a runner up in the Marisota Facebook competition, Mark Heyes Watch & Win. 3 weeks later and the promised Prosecco and chocolates (which I had been looking forward to!) still hadn't arrived, so I emailed politely asking if they had been sent.

Apparently they had been sent out as soon as I replied with my details, so she said she'd send a replacement. That was 2 weeks ago, and still nothing...I emailed on Monday explaining and haven't heard anything back.

It seems odd 2 parcels going missing in the post, but if that is what has happened they are going to be reluctant to send it out again. I don't have a problem with mail going missing on a regular basis and have trust worthy neighbours, so v odd.

Would other people just forget about this? ;)

Email them again and tell them to try tracking their parcels this time. I would find it hard to believe both parcels had gone missing as well unless someone at your post office is a damn theif lol.

I agree - 2 parcels to go missing is not usual! It is not your fault either! I would post on their Facebook wall - this usually gives companies a little subtle nudge!:p

I know it was rather odd, and part of me wondered if she had forgotten to send it-I just can't believe 2 have gone missing. I will give her one more chance by email then post something on the Facebook wall. I know it is only a small prize, just wanted to know I wasn't over reacting

No you weren't over reacting - I would have done the same as you. Hope your prize eventually arrives xxx

  • Keep going hun. I agree that the chance of both parcels disappearing is unlikely. Something odd going on.

  • I chased something for over 6 months until I got it - hubby thought I was crazy but it was a matter of principle to me. If companies want free publicity through running a competition, then they have to keep their end of the bargain by sending out the prizes.

It doesn't matter how big or small a prize is, it is yours so keep chasing!

I had a similar problem recently, but did pursue it.

I think courier was trying to deliver my prize to wrong address.

I got them to confirm my address and use a different courier service.

When they resent using Royal Mail - all OK

    Good luck
    thanks to all posters

I won the top prize with marisota of £250 to spend on the website but am still waiting for my items. The lady has been polite and says she is waiting for the items and will send them ASAP but I am becoming very impatient now and more worried since reading your post. My last email pointed out that if I was a regular customer I would have received my item in 3 days but I haven't had a reply yet.... I will be complaining on their fb or twitter soon if I don't receive them :/
Thanks to all those fab compers who post:j:T

Thanks for all your replies, I don't usually post on here, being more of a lurker, but you are a friendly bunch!

The "Social Media Executive" at Marisota who I emailed on Monday got back to me this morning. She said both parcels were sent using Royal Mail 2nd class post..she advised me to ring my delivery office (which I have done-needless to say there was nothing waiting there). She has offered a baking tin set instead as they have run out of Prosecco apparently. I am still highly sceptical as to why 2 parcels both went missing, but I can't be bothered to argue the toss, so have accepted the baking tins instead (probably more useful anyway). Now a nervous wait to see if THESE ever turn up. One would hope they'd be sensible and maybe use a recordered delivery this time.
I do hope you get the top prize soon c5ryl, if I had won a big prize like that I would certainly have complained more.
Why do some companies make such a hash out of competitions? It does take the shine off your win somewhat.
