So here is the thing.
I've been recently traveling various European countries and the prices of vegetables and meat are way lower than in the Great Britain.
For example 1kg of potatoes cost in some EU countries around 10p. Now the price of 1kg of basic potatoes in Tesco and other chain food supermarkets in London are INSANE.
The basic baking potatoes pack 2,5 kg is in Tesco for £2,48 !!!
The super stores went crazy on the prices of basic food products that everyone needs. Sure there are some nice prices on electronic stuff, even luxury food products but the basic things are way too much expensive.Where I can buy it in London/UK for a decent price?

it all depends how far you're looking to travel but if you're close by broadway market i'd take a look there some really good offers0

It depends on where you live in London.
On Brick Lane for example on Sunday afternoons the fruit and veg is reduced, I got 7 avocados for £1 last time I was there but I didn't want to buy more stuff and have to carry it around for the rest of the evening. 5 avocados for £1 full price and my local shops are the same.
So I shop online with Ocado. 7.5kg washed potatoes for £7, is that too expensive?
I have many local shops near me where I can buy vegetables that taste much nicer than the stuff from Tesco but it depends on where you live.
Many shops including the supermarkets regularly have cans of chickpeas etc at 3 for £1 and sometimes 4 for £1.
Do you have similar shops where you live?0 -
Walthamstow market is fantastic for the £1 bowls."Save £12k in 2019" #120 - £100,699.57/£100,0000

Albert Square maybe...;)All my friends and neighbours helped me pack and move for free, at first I was happy until I got told no one liked me and they just wanted to make sure I left. Thanks Mum and Dad.0

Wow, 7 avocados for only L1 Holy Guacamole! That's nice price. Tesco usually charge L1 per 1 medium avocado. In bulk sometimes they are cheaper but nothing like your price.
I will visit Brick Lane for sure.
Yes, I got 1-2 grocery shops nearby but the prices are similar to Tesco ones or even higher. When I lived in london I used those corner shops which do bowls of fruit and veg for L1 - lots of them near tube stations in outskirts of zone one / inner zone 2?
Think Kentish Town / Bow / Whitechapel etcWalthamstow market is fantastic for the L1 bowls.Smokey_Joe wrote: »Albert Square maybe...midnight_express wrote: »Markets including Shepherds Bush, Portobello Rd, Hackney and Walthamstow.
Thanks! I will try these places. :beer:0 -
Also, check out the ethnic shops. They're usually cheaper than supermarkets too.
If you tell us the rough area (SE, SW, NE, NW) we might be able to give you some other places to try. There's not much point travelling half way across London to try and save a few pence.
Oh, and Albert Square was a joke, it's a fictional place.0
