I'm waiting - in fact, I bought a 360 for £99 at Tesco the other day, after 4 years of PC. Got a lot of Halo story to catch up on, BF3, GTA on pre-order and FIFA 14 at the end of the month. I want to replay Jet Set Radio Future so I might grab that and any other games I've wanted to play but missed out on while I've been away, it might be the end of a generation, but for me at least, it's got a lot of playing hours coming it's way.

Personally, I'm waiting until next year. I want to hear about any issues with the systems breaking before buying one, I remember all too well the 360 and how many friends had to wait weeks for replacements or repairs with the 360 just after launch.

What baffles me is I have a friend who is that obssessed with getting one on release yet him and his wife always complain they don't have enough money and how they can't afford one, he needs a better job etc. If he spent half the time he does gaming on working at a career change he wouldn't need to be selling all his prized possessions and rare collectables to get something he could save up for and buy a few months later. To each their own, I suppose.

I'll probably play Forza 5 a fair bit, FIFA will get a lot of multiplayer action and there's a possibility I'll get Assassin's Creed 4 and Watch Dogs before Christmas although I may just wait.

I'm holding off on any next gen decision until teething issues have been identified and sorted. Having had both the RROD and YLOD, I kinda want to know if its worth holding off a little bit.

And there's still plenty left to enjoy this gen, on PS3 at least. I know MS say they haven't abandoned the Xbox 360, but I do feel a little out in the cold as a 360 owner. At least PS+ is there to keep me going on PS3 for now :)
  • People keep mentioning teething problems, but both the Xbone and PS4 are based on PC hardware that has already been tried and tested.

I doubt we'll ever see RRoD or YLoD ever again.

They could come from anywhere though, even the cases themselves. RRoD and YLoD were both caused by overheating (as far as I'm aware anyway), something which was in part due to insignificant airflow within the console's casing. Only time and a testing pool of millions will route out such teething problems with the new consoles, so it'll be interesting to see how they have behaved six months into their lives.
  • I honestly don't think we'll see a failure rate anywhere near the last gen, purely because of the PC based hardware.

Last gen was all custom build GPU's and CPU's.
  • I am going to keep my 360 for another year while I keep an eye on the Ones hardware and user reviews.... and for the price to even out! I'm more than happy with the stockpile of 360 games to keep me going til then :D

I'm thinking more about server-side issues like XBL/PSN falling on its !!!! for the first few weeks, buggy software etc.
  • Well my trusty xbox 360 will be making its way upstairs to the master bedroom and will most likely end up as a media player or for my daughter to play Minecraft. The blu ray player will also be making its way upstairs as with the Xbox one I only need one bulky box rather then 2! I waited before purchasing my xbox 360 when it was released however there is something satisfying about owning a Xbox one before friends and family... It's like bringing the latest transformer toy to school when you was a kid while the others had go bots!
