Buildings & contents insurance

Can someone help!

We have held our mortgage with Nationwide for 7 years now, naively we took buildings & contents insurance with them as well. I have decided this year to shop around a bit for a better deal and yes I can do rather well. My complaint is that if I am a new customer of Nationwide and apply online I would save £130 on the premium I am paying as a 'loyal' customer.

Can I claim back this extra money as surely I should be entitled to the same deal as a new customer.

Thoughts and advice would be appreciated!

No you cant claim back the money you lost by not shopping around but you can certainly apply online for the new rate. This is something a lot of insurance companies do to get in new customers and then they depend on inertia.

I suggest you also compare with other companies and go through Quidco to get some money back
