Universal Credit

When (if) Universal Credit comes in fully, will they be able to sort out Housing and Council Tax benefit entitlements for you or will you still have to sort out the forms yourself if you haven't claimed before?
Just wondering as everything is going to be cobbled together as one benefit (UC)

Many thanks

Everything except Child Benefit, Contributory benefits and Council tax support will come under Universal credit. There is a housing element to UC so there will no longer be Housing Benefit. This could be some years away for most.

Maybe but its nearly at the stage where legislatively impossible to stop.

  • I like the handy online calculator

I cannot wait for it to be rolled out nationwide. All the people that will be able to claim something, thanks to not having to work a minimum amount of hours eg 16 or 30 :T

Thanks everyone for your input, and the calculator was a real help.
I don't claim housing benefit as my non-dependant son works full time and I would probably only get a few pounds a week ....yes I know I should claim everything I'm entitled to but the form is so long-winded!
At least I know now that if and when UC becomes a reality any entitlement will be worked out for me.

    Thanks again
