Used luxury sedan - BMW/MB/Lexus

While BMWs are thoroughly well designed, engineered and built, they are also far better than average at marketing. Perception is a lovely thing. There were 40,000+ BMW 3 series sold in the UK last year, more than double the amount of Mondeos sold.0

I dont think anyone disputes the amount they sell - they're certainly not 'exclusive' anymore but there are still people who think of a 318i as a 'luxury' car, when in reality they're not.0 -

They still selling the base models with a cassette player?
I laughed a lot when my mate bought a 53 plate 3 series and it had a cassette player in and no CD!0 -
It depends on your expectations of it, and the model you've chosen. Also they tend to need to have a lot of extras on them before they feel 'special'.
Would never describe a common or garden 3 series as a "luxury sedan" though.
I would have not recommended as a luxury sedan as well - it was more a response to an earlier poster that was endorsing them.0 -

They are also the most profitable car, per unit, after manufacture and engineering than any other car.
Now that could be because BMW are very good at producing a lot of car for the money, or could be because they are good at producing a relatively cheap car and dressing it up as a premium product.
Personally, after owning one, and experiencing its 'character', I'd go with the latter.0 -

No. LOL
Yes a bit embarassing that. Any i've sold of that ilk i usually get the CD head unit off ebay and upgrade it.
I've a beautiful 2002 330Ci M Sport coupe coming on Friday, no doubt with a cassette deck - not that i'll personally care much as its the engine i'll be listening to!0 -

Its the options they seem very good at encouraging people to take. Buy a Mondeo Zetec and you'll go for metallic paint - Buy a 3 series and you'll *need* leather, media pack, upgraded alloys, etc, etc.
Also they get away without discounting them much, relatively speaking.0
