Changing appliances will have some effect but I doubt it will be as great as you imagine. Again the cost of LED bulbs will only be worth it if you have a ceiling full of 50w spots that you use all the time. The best and cheapest way will be to modify your use of the existing items.

The only way you'll ever cut it in half s to stay with friends! Doing as yo suggest may give you a 10% or slightly better discount, but 50%? The best I made was 24% during Summer.

Get yourself an energy monitor. It has done wonders for me. Switch a kettle on or try hoovering and watch the monitor cost per second. It works by attaching a magnet box to your electric meter (under the stairs or wherever it is) and you can read exactly at any point in time from a seperate monitor box that you can place anywhere in the house. Readings from Kwh or pence at any particular moment / last 24 hrs/ last week/ last month. So if you switch on any appliance like a light bulb or tumble dryer you can see how much in pence per minute that it will cost you. I got one free with my last BG varialbe Energy Smart deal. You can buy energy monitors in most suitable lekki places.
