Partial settlement v full settlement HELP PLEASE

Hello
My girlfriend has a debt of £2050 with debt collection agency.
We have had a partial settlement agreed of £1540 stating:
"If the above payment (£1540) is receieved our client agrees not to pursue you for the remaining balance and will not pass on the remaining balmace to anyone else to pursue"
"partial settlement will result in this account being recorded as 'partially settled' on your credit file. This information will remain on your credit file for 6 years. If you are in a position to repay the full balance your credit file will be recorded as fully satisfied for this account."
The reason I want to get this settlled is in a four years approx. we will be looking to buy a new house and would like a joint mortgage with both incomes taken into consideration.
If fully settled will her credit rating still be seen as 'bad' for six years from repayment date as she had a debt collection agency after her etc. If so I will pay the partial settlement.
If not I will have to borrow the remaining money to repay full amount if results in better credit score.
My hope was to get credit sorted by getting her a credit card and making sure she makes payments etc to build up credit score.....?
Any advice on how best to do this greatly appreciated.
Many thanks

What default date is shown on her credit file in relation to this debt?
The entire record of the account, the default, whether it unpaid, partially satisfied or satisfied in full will disappear from her credit file 6 years from that default date.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Thanks for reply Tixy
I'm not sure exactly as we haven't checked her credit file yet (£ to pay for etc)
but the debt was first logged with debt agency over a year ago.
If this is the case should I just repay partial settlement?
Many thanks0
