VEAS has been dropped by the DVLA
Hi all
Just wondering if anyone can advise. Recently woke to find my mothers car had been clamped for not paying her car tax. It seems she never received the log book after buying the car and so missed any reminders to pay her tax. Silly I know but these things happen. So, that day I called VEAS and paid for the clamping fee and surety charge on my credit card. I then sent my mother off with a flea in her ear to the DVLA to get the car taxed, apply for a new log book and get the surety charge back. However almost 3 months later have never received this. After a lot of back and forth with the DVLA, assurances it would be in my account and apologies they have admitted that VEAS is no longer the clamping company used as they have lost the contract with the DVLA. After having a bit of a strop at this loss they have stopped answering calls and requests so people have been left out of pocket as they refuse to release the funds. So my question is what now? The DVLA say they will keep trying to contact VEAS, but I can see a spiral of just waiting ahead. I am thinking of a small claims claim but who do I write to VEAS or DVLA and who is liable for the missing payment? Any help would be amazing as I am fast losing patients. Thanks guys!
