Hi, I would like to be able to take card payments in my taxi and think this could be an ideal solution. Can anyone confirm that all I will pay ongoing is 2.75% or do I also get stung for normal PayPal fees on top i.e. how much will I pay in total from taking the payment to getting it in my bank account? Thanks

I am unfamiliar with PayPal here, but many services are currently competing in this space. Some of us here use Worldpay Zinc, same kind of thing, might be cheaper for you to set up as there is a £20 discount for online sign up with a referral code. That scheme is pure pay as you go, cash in the bank overnight/next day from experience, no minimum charges or account maintenance fees, etc.
Don't know if that's helpful?0 -

Thanks, I shall check it out now!0 -
Also Pay Pals card machine would certainly not give me as a customer confidence that the vendor requesting my payment is legit. I believe that WorldPays terminal is very similar that you see in shops etc.0

It looks good, the only things i can see is that it doesn't take Amex and I can't see anything saying you can take payments by putting the card number in, just swipe or chip and pin, is that correct? Also would you be able to do a referral? Thanks0

Hi, it is for cardholder present transactions, so not the same as having a full merchant account (with associated costs!). No, you're right it doesn't take Amex. Amex fees can be very high, often higher than the fixed rate you pay on post as you go. I know a guy who paid 4.5% for Amex even with a proper merchant account (although maybe that has come down). My bank offer an Amex card plus MasterCard package as many people don't take amex for this reason.
Yes of course happy to refer if you go that route

PS as a taxi, if you're a Hackney have you considered seeing if Tapsi or Hailo are coming to your city?0

Hope you find the right tool for the job in this case!0

you also have iZettle and payatrader which turns your smartphone into a card terminal0

Referral codes are not allowed on this board, especially for old threads. There is already a Worldpay zinc referrals thread running.0
