Im in the process of setting up a website, Slowly!

One question i have is how do you get on google? and on the first page and up near the top

Ok not technically one question before anyone says but just wondering.

Normally their bots would find your site and add it, alternatively submit it yourself http://www.google.com/addurl/
As for getting to the top that's a combination of factors of keywords, popularity, links, links to your site etc.

the site that Im building will be one where clients need to fill in details that are then emailed/telephone to companies.

Is there software I need for this, Im a complete Website virgin!

from what I understand, u would like users to fill in the online form....hit a "submit" button and the info be sent to an email address that u specify?

let me know if this is the case and I will explain more....if not the case then it saves me typing it out...;)

Try TFMail at http://nms-cgi.sourceforge.net/scripts.shtml which processes an online form when submitted and sends an email to a nominated email address containing the form details.

One other thing I've heard of is using "hidden" words in the pages for Google to pick up on to get more hits - not sure of details but probably worth a google!!!!!!!!!!!!
