cat had op and desperate to be outside..

My cat had an op Wednesday (yesterday) to remove a lump from his back and he is desperate to be outside.. would it be really bad to put him in the large rabbit run for a couple of hours a day? He LOVES laying in the sun but obviously he would have water and food and litter and a soft blanket to lay on and be kept out of the sun..
Would it be mean to put him out there though? the vet said he is not allowed out until his stitches are out in 2 weeks but poor puss won't be able to stand this and the rabbit run seems a reasonable compromise to keep him happy. It is safe enough for bunny so nothing he could hurt himself on.
The run is right outside the French doors opposite my chair so I would be able to see him at all times I just don't know if it would be worse to keep him cooped up in the house.. he is already crying at the locked cat flap.. or pen him up outside, they both seem mean.

I couldn't see a problem to start with Pigpen but then thought if puss has an open wound maybe flies would be the problem with him unless of course he has a dressing.
In which case, I really cant see a problem, possibly have a word with the vet again.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
I know quite a few people who crate dogs and pop them in the garden when they're post-op/on strict lead-rest so I don't see why not. They often find the mental stimulation of the sights and sounds outside help tire out the dog, which is great when they're getting restricted exercise!
A rabbit run could be good if it doesn't have much height, it would prevent her climbing about too much.0 -
He is crying at the door again... I'll give the vet a quick ring see what she says.
He doesn't have a dressing but it is very tightly stitched with no seepage or leaking. My mother is away or I cold borrow her dog crate though the crate is smaller than the run. I'll see if we can manage to keep him inside today, it is difficult with toddlers who don't know what 'keep the door shut' means and them wanting to go in and look at him .. and then cry that he is scary.
The run is single level so only about 2ft high so no climbing involved.

As long as the rabbit run is on a clean surface then it's just like being inside. You need to careful of dirt...cat's love to roll in dirt and that wouldn't be a good idea. I'd put the rabbit run on a blanket if you only have grass or dirt areas.:footie:

My cat is also inside .......long sad story about getting trapped by his big fluffy tail in brambles -by the time we got to him the circulation to his tail was gone and he's had to have 3/4s of his tail removed .
The vet told me flies are a huge problem this year and the last thing he needs is maggots in the wound (even though it is stitched) and to keep him in for that reason until they are removed. He's an outdoor loving boy too but overall I'm sticking to tough love and keeping him in for now -especially as it's still very warm....as the wound heals I may rethink as it's 10 days til the stitches come out.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
