How to give my son Face Time on iPod

I wonder if anyone can help.

My son's friends have all started Face Timing one another, and my son would very much like to do the same.

He has an iPod touch and the App appears to be there, but when you click to connect to someone nothing happens.

I looked on line and it said to create him an iTunes account, but it says he is too young, and I am not terribly savy on technology to know what to do.

Ideally we would not want him to have an iTunes account as we fear he may click on a game without knowing the consequencies and have to pay out huge sums of money.

Does anyone know how to set him up on FaceTime?

Thanks

You don't need to set up a payment method when you set up iTunes, and without this he won't spend any unwanted money.

iTunes also requires a password before installing Apps so you can make sure it is secure that way :)

Yes, you do have to set up an itunes account. But as he's too young you will have to set it up in your name with him as a guest, or lie about his age. If you've already tried setting it up on his ipod using his real age it probably won't let you try again using a different one so you may have to set it up on your own pc/laptop/whatever you use.

You need to enter a payment method when you set it up but once it's all done you can remove it.

We've just done this for my daughters ipad.
