Tent Repair Issue

Hi all, looking for some guidance on a problem I currently have.

We bought a tent which has been used no more than 5 times and cost around 300 pounds. On the last trip a small tear was found in the bottom of the tent in its groundsheet. We contacted the shop that sold then tent and they sent it for repair.

The tent can back with an assurance that the tear was fixed, we were not given the opportunity to check prior to taking our next holiday. When we were packing up we found that the same tear was still present.

We contacted the shop again and now they are refusing to assist us. We have photographed the tear along with a few other issues and have spoken to them but they are saying they cannot help.

The question is, as they have seen the tent once - would that reset the clock on the warranty ? or would it on guarantee the item that was meant to be repaired.

The tent is now over 12 months old, but pretty useless as a tent if it leaks through the floor...

All thoughts are welcome... Thanks

    Here's some thoughts:

If the warranty has expired, then that's it as far as the warranty is concerned.

Have a read of MSE's Consumer Rights guide to see what you statutory rights are.

I don't understand "we were not given the opportunity to check prior to taking our next holiday".
    Opportunity given by who?
Surely you need to make some things happen.

A tent is useless because of a tear in the groundsheet?
Stick a piece of gaffer tape over the tear and enjoy your next camping trip.
  • I see where you coming from - maybe I made things a little too black and white. If the repair they made has failed again, where does this leave me ? Surely that repair must be under warranty ?

No idea if there is a warranty on the repair.
That will depend if the repairer offered a warranty or not.
