Transporting car
Hi
I thinking of buying a classic car and would need it transporting approximately 200 miles from Dorset area to Nottingham
Does anyone know of any good companies that they have used to transport cars as I wouldn't be allowed to hire a trailer and transport it myself.
Thanks

Inclined to agree with Marlot here, with classics and vintage they need careful handling, but especially they need careful securing to ensure there is no underbody or suspension damage during transit.
You really want someone used to such work and pay the extra.0 -

And by the time you have driven there and back it won't be that much extra and most imprtantly you won't have had all the stress!0 -
have a look at Shiply.com
And pay a deposit and then find the transporter doesn't want to do it, and get stuck trying to get your deposit back off shiply? No chance! Trust me I've been there twice.
I'd rather use www.anyvan.com similar setup, but far safer for buyers.
OP, I'll pm you a number of a bloke in Mansfield who's done jobs for me and my bossYes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?

I used these guys...
http://www.transporterhire.co.uk/
Hired a VW transporter off a chap near Leicester for about £100 plus fuel.
Driove there myself, inspected the car and came away with it. If you send a courier, will they examine the car like you?0 -
Be very careful how much weight you put on a modern 3.5tonne (Transit sized) transporter. They don't have as much payload as you'd think (particularly Sprinters). I'd be suprised if the one on their front page with the Crossfire on is underweight.
I know "chances are, you'll be fine", but getting caught overweight is a massive pain in the neck.Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?
