Sorry if my answer doesn't help much, but as a ballpark figure nearly everyone I know who has replaced their bathroom in a similar way to yours, the cost has come to around £5k. Maybe more if you buy top class fittings, tiles etc. I know for a fact that 25sq metres of tiles at £27 a metre will set you back about nearly £1000, and that's without adhesive, grout and having them fitted.
The price you have been quoted seems very good. Do you know them? Be careful as there are some bathroom fitters are better than others.0 -
Thank you
. I will be supplying everything - tiles, grout, adhesive etc. It is my first house so I have no idea what I should be expecting to pay for this sort of work. Sounds like I might have to get saving!

That's a good price and similar to what I paid for a total bathroom refurbishment. At £200 per day that'll be two working weeks of work.
Does the tradesman have all of the skills required? When I had my bathroom done the boss of the company was the main bathroom fitter and did most of the work. However, he brought in his electrician, painter, plasterer, etc., as and when required during the two week period.
You should double-check that he has all the skills required or available for the complete job.Everyone is entitled to my opinion!0 -

It's always a good idea to get a minimum of 3 quotes. Some builders overcharge, while some price cheaply to get the work, but you can end up spending more to put it right if they do a bad job. I would always beware of anyone who quoted cheaply, and also watch out for anyone who doesn't point out things to you that you may not have noticed. A good plumber will always warn you if something might be difficult or most costly. I have a friend who get a cheap quote and the plumber never told her that by fitting a certain bath where she wanted it would mean she couldn't have an overhead shower fitted - which is what she wanted.
You need to budget in for:- Bath
- Bathwaste plug
- taps
- Basin
- Waste
- Taps
- Toilet
- Tiles
- Grout
- Adhesive
- Sealant
- Flooring
- Lighting
- Shower
- Cubicle
- Tray
- Waste
- Extractor Fan?
- Bathroom Cabinet
- Towel Rails
Also,it's the little things that add up in materials and you can be surprised at the total cost. For example, B&Q often sell basins without the waste, and the taps can cost more than the basin.
And that's without soap dishes, shaving mirrors, over sink mirrors, storage units etc.....you'll be shocked at how much it soon adds up. Then with the labour on top.....ask the plumber if he can give you a job price rather than a daily rate, and also ask him if it includes things like shaving the door if necessary, and make sure his electrician is registered and gives you a safety certificate - you'll need that when you one day sell. I don't think you'll get much change out of £4k, and that will be using quite basic fittings. According to a report I read in a newspaper one of the most important parts of redoing a bathroom is the tiles, they can make or break a bathroom. Hope that helps.0
