Cold Wet Wall after Shower

I'm in the process of decorating my bathroom. One of the walls is single skin and is therefore cold and wet after a shower. I have had an extractor installed and keep the window open at most times.

When I removed the old mirror from the wall, the paint had peeled, probably due to moisture trapped behind the mirror. I would like to hang a bathroom cabinet with mirror on this wall. Its the only place I can put it as its above the sink. I don't want to ruin my paint work, but I'm worried about moisture getting trapped. I have thought about using a bead of sealant around the edges, but I think it will look awful.

Does anyone have any other ideas? I've done all I can in terms of removing as much moisture as I can, and without going to the extent of dry lining/insulating the wall.

Was it mouldy or just peeling paint? If there's no actual damp and you now have an extractor, I woudn't be too worried about it.

You should get more help with this on the In my home/Diy board so I've moved your thread over there.

Is the paint moisture-resistant bathroom paint or just plain emulsion? Perhaps paint the wall with proper bathroom paint first before you hang the bathroom cabinet?

It was the old paint that was peeling, but I'm worried it may happen again. I'm not sure what paint it was as it was last decorated by the previous owner, and it was in a quite a bad way.

I have the final coat of paint to which will be bathroom paint.
