Hello lovely people!
I am wondering if someone can give me some info.
Husband on ESA - support group. This is a joint claim at present but after doing training for work for 6 months I am hoping to start my business as a self employed person.
I have been given conflicting advice from different people at my job centre so far. Will my husbands ESA stop altogether or is it just my part that will stop? ( I thought this was about £100 per fortnight that would be reduced by?)
Really appreciates some advice here as I am hopping to sign off his claim asap.
Thanks

Hi Trixxi
I'm not sure if this is helpful, as I didn't know you could have a joint ESA claim so I might be missing something.
However, I do know that at the point you are earning, then if your husband is on Income-based ESA your income would be taken into account. So if you are earning more than your joint personal allowance he wouldn't get any ESA. If he can claim Contribution-based ESA then he might be OK (for up to a year, the I think this ends).
He should still be able to claim PIPs if he's eligible though, and maybe other benefits such as Housing Benefit and Working Tax Credit for the household if you're on a low income.
I reckon the CAB will give you a more trustworthy than the Jobcentre.
