Its quite a common problem. Some will play vcd's etc and some will not. I've found that, ironically, the cheaper the player is, the more likely it is to play 'home made' media. Index shops are selling dvd players for £25 at the moment and Asda usually have their own Pacific make for less than £30. Both of these will play almost anything. Are you able to return your player for a refund?I'm Glad to be here... At my age I'm glad to be anywhere!!

I got a PRISM dvd player from woolworths with 8 movies, karaoke dvd and microphone for £30 and it plays everything I throw at it."Gort, klaatu barada nikto"

Can you, at least, post the model of the player?0

Visit VideoHelp and enter the DVD player details (model, etc) and see what other people have said about it along with what they can and can't support.0
