Badly Installed Windows?? Need advice

Hi Guys,

I have just had 5 windows installed, the windows look -ok- but I am concerned about a few things;

First, they sit flush with the outside of the house. I have been looking at other houses and they all seem to have their windows recessed by at least 10mm most are by more. Shouldn't my windows be set back even a bit?

Second, where the new windows have gone in the gap above them has been filled with morter (1 window by the depth of a brick almost) will this crack after a summer/winter and then let in water due to the window being so far forwards?

Third, the windows are triple glazed units, bought because I wanted better sound proofing, but they stop nothing. The old aluminium windows in there before had better sound proofing.

The house is a 1900 Victorian semi and the brick work isn't exactly stright, there seems ample room in the window recesse inside for the window to come back at least an inch.

Any insight from somebody who knows more than I do would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

    Some photo's would help.....Can you post some pics?.

    Are the windows boxframe sliding sash windows or casement windows (sashes hung on hinges)?

    No windows should be fixed flush to the outside of the brickwork the idea of setting them back into the reveal is for weathering purposes and aesthetics.
