Balance transfers with spending and other transfers

in Credit cards
I have a credit card that has a balance of £1000. This consists of a £500 balance transfer that is interest free until December 2014 and £500 of spending that is attracting interest.
I have a second credit card that has a 0% balance transfer offer. If I transfer £500 will it be the £500 that is attracting interest?
I know if I make a payment it goes to the most expensive debt first, but is it the same rule for balance transfers?
Thanks

But be careful - some cards will apply payments to statemented balances at 0% before un-statemented transactions being charged interest (BTW is "statement" a verb??).
This is against the spirit (if not the letter) of the rules on paying higher interest balances first.
