Isn't the house disregarded for a time when up for sale?

  • Would the lady be remotely interested in people helping her by clearing her own house out? If it's currently full of unopened purchases she could possibly make some money back by selling them, plus reclaim some living space in the process.

I'm addicted to hoarding programmes so I do know the strong emotional attachment people make to the "rubbish" that fills their homes. It's not an easy task to help them clear out even just enough to make their homes habitable again. But it might be worth a try if she's willing?

What did Pension Credit say when they were informed of the change of address?
If her entitlement remains unchanged then she will likely qualify for housing benefit based on that.
