Diesel price
In the fuel price stakes the big two, Tesco and Asda, had significantly different policies.
Tesco said they would always be competitive in any given area, which meant that very often they were no cheaper than an independent. On the other hand, Asda stated that they'd be cheapest, and the same price from Lands End to John o' Groats.
However, though happy to trumpet the above in the past, Asda seems to have been a lot less open in quietly dropping this phylosophy! Twice recently I've found Asda to be 3p a litre dearer than at other branches; Kilmarnock - £136.7, but Galashiels - 139.7. And now this week, Aberdeen - 136.7, but Elgin - 139.7.
So come on Asda, what about a bit of honesty please!!??

It has been like this for a while from Asda and like you say, they have been very quiet about it.
Now when they drop a price, they state the highest price anyone will pay.
As for Tesco - they do their best to keep the price as high as possible and have done for years.0 -

Edit: Out of interest, is there any sales basis by which Tesco and Asda are 'the big two'?0 -

How about this:

Round here, Asda tend to be only the cheapest for a couple of weeks after they've persuaded MSE to help promote their latest price cut, then three or four others will soon drop below them again.0

I thought everyone realised how dominant tesco are, they are enormous and still growing, they push councils in to allowing stores where the councils dont want them.
It isnt good for the consumer in the long term.
From memory there are something like 20 Tescos in Norwich alone
Tesco diesel is around 1.42 around here, looks like it is much cheaper in scotland0 -

They now have more stores elsewhere in the world than in the UK!
And loads of businesses from recording companies to Dobbies Garden Centres.
Tesco will be a world power soon. LOL.0 -

I partly asked as I don't think I've ever seen an ASDA fuel station! Although I do know they have some of course.

Wow! Where do you live?
Here in NE Scotland I'm having to have a hard think about if I know of any without a filling station in their car park.0
