Hi
I have been quoted £360 for a ceiling to be boarded, independent of the ceiling, and plastered, had to have this done as ceiling is bowing slightly and has slightly cracked 30 year old artex.
I am in the greater manchester area, is it a decent quote?
size is approx (just less) than 12ft by 12ft (3.65m x 3.65m)
He has also quoted £55 for each wall to be skimmed they must be approx 12 by 8 foot high?

Sounds about right. I've just paid £300 labour only for a garage ceiling of 8' x 16' to be reboarded and skimmed.
Does your price include materials?Everyone is entitled to my opinion!0 -
all materials and humungous amounts of tea and biscuits apparently!
thanks, :beer:0 -
hi, Are you plasterboarding directly under the existing ceiling ?. If so make sure the plasterer uses either longer nails or screws to get a good fixing into the joists or you will just be adding more weight to your bowed ceiling !0

the plasterboard is going to be attached to a framework underneath the ceiling so that any movement will not affect it if we stomp about in the attic above, thats the plan anyway. He is making a framework attached to the walls but not the ceiling??0
