British gas and getting a smart meter installed.

I am interested in the purported offering soon of the 'free saturday' offer.
Clearly, this might not happen.
But - assuming it does - what's the current policy of BG with regards to smart meters - and how does it vary over the country.
Specifically - if I switched to BG, and then changed tariff type to economy 7 - would they typically fit a smart meter?

Have you asked British Gas?

You can register interest on the website. When they have enough they sweep into an area and swap over to smart meters. It's not automatic though although they are changing all customers to smart meters evntually you won't get one straight away just because you take a bg tariff.

I received a letter on Friday asking me to go back to British gas.
They are offering me free smart meters upgrade and then i would go onto the clear and simple tariff with free electric on a Saturday between 9am and 5pm.
Don't think it includes the option of being on economy 7

So far I havent seen an eco 7 smart meter fitted by British Gas, they have all been single rate tariff. Business smarts are single and multi rate
