Butlins Skegness Apartments Comparison

Hi all
We have just got back from Butlins Skegness Sun Deal holiday and we loved it.
We stayed in a standard apartment which had a sea view (well a view of the railings but you could see the sea just about). The apartment was just next to the circus tent so very central to everything. It was clean, tidy, and had everything we needed. No microwave but we can live without that for a few days. I would book standard again if they are all like this BUT i have seen lots of people moaning about standard apartments.
My question is " where we lucky?" are other standard apartments in much worse locations / much older / in disrepair?
Can anyone who has been to Skegness recently report back on where there apartment was, and what it was like?
When we walked around the site the kids saw the three storey apartments which i presumed are all gold? Is this correct?
I am just trying to work out if we just got lucky this time and is usually worth upgrading at Skegness ?
What accommodation did you have at Skegness, where was it located and what was it like?

We have stayed in standard with the sun holidays before and like you I did not have a problem with the accommodation, to be honest the last couple of times I stayed silver I had more issues so I don't think I would pay to upgrade again. Like you, I have wondered if we were also lucky so am interested to see others comments about this :-)0

I would not pay to upgrade to silver. You are getting a microwave a slightly better decor big deal. We have stayed many times and all the standard have been the same. Sometimes we have paid for standard and have been given silver anyway. (this is with the sun). Never stayed in the 3 story.0

We went to Skeg Butlins for the first time this summer and we were in the silver appartments. Mine was in a 2 storey between the Quasar and Gold reception so a good position.
We have booked again for silver for next year. We wanted nicer decor we used the code which meant we got £150 apx off the usual silver price. We originally booked silver because it was me, my 8 year old boy, 7 year old girl and 1 year old baby and also my little brother going (he's 29 so not very little). My brother and boy were sleeping in a twin room and my boy is a snorer and I booked the silver specifically in case my boy snored so loudly that either he or my little brother wouldnt be able to share a twin room (he's a light sleeper and would have been mega disturbed by the snoring). Then one of them could move into the lounge and sleep in there while the other stayed in the twin room on his own so I wanted a slightly nicer lounge. In the end they were ok together and we didn't need to do anything.
I have also seen the 3 storey, very swanky places. They look lovely from the outside but have you noticed that they are quite a distance from where everything is?
If you are happy with the standard accommod then choose that one. I expect the stnd blocks were built first so they are closer to the action. Then the next ones up (siver) were built which are a bit further out and then finally they built the gold which are right out on the outskirts.
As an aside I was very impressed with the silver drive thru check in. Very quick and easy.
We went int he first full week of Aug and found the queuing horrendous. Waited an hour and a half for the shaolin monks and although we got good central seat with a good view they were still quite close to the back and weren't worth an hour and a half. Next year I am prepared to buy the fast pass tickets!

thanks everyone - i have decided to stay standard at Butlins when we go for a christmas weekend in December, because if the weather is bad we will want to be near the centre and the apartment we had in Aug was good so i will chance it we get lucky again.
However when we go to Butlins Bognor Regis in Easter i have upgraded to silver as the Bognor regis standards are only 1 bed with a sofa bed in living room.
Anway i will report back to let you know what the standard skegness apartment was like next time so if anyone else wants to post feedback as well that would be great so that others save the money on upgrading if it is not necessary.
thanks
