Renault...who pays for replacement hire vehicle?

Hi,
I bought a brand new Renault Trafic van just over a year ago & it broke down recently resulting in a flat bed truck lift to a Renault main dealer.
The vehicle has been there for two & a half weeks & the faults have still not been diagnosed. In the meantime I have had to hire a replacement van at a cost so far of about £700 & rising.
On the basis that the van is so new & only has about 7000 miles on the clock (under the average) I would like to think that I have a case for getting reimbursement for said hire costs from Renault? The Trafic has the 'fully loaded' Renault 4+ warranty but initial indications show that they are not necessarily liable to supply a replacement vehicle in the instance of a breakdown.
I have kept the entire communication string to & from the dealer on file as emails in the eventuality of this sort of issue arising.
Can anyone offer some advice?
Thank you.
J

I dont think you have a 'right'
however if the dealer isnt playing ball then i would be contacting Renault UK
2.5 weeks is a long time for a commercial to be down without even knowing the fault
might also be worth looking at some form of insurance for the future to cover such events0 -
I would imagine they have a clause in the T&Cs, which allows them to avoid responsibility in these sorts of cases.
Trouble is, it'd be quite easy to break your vehicle, hire a van from a mate with inflated costs and then make a tidy profit from the dealer.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Hi & thanks for the quick replies.
Well, we've carried out some fairly minor investigation work into the Renault website & speaking to the vehicle hire firm who also deal with Renault.
The Renault Business/Fleet Promise is to supply a replacement vehicle from the start.
It seems that the dealer is not clued up.
Will advise of the outcome.0
