Wednesday 4th September - What Small DFW Things Will You Be Doing Today??!

When we start out on the Debt-Free Wannabe trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free. .
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending :money:
Morning everyone. I've been hopeless at posting on these threads lately, as other commitments have taken priority, but I will try to keep popping in when I can. Had a job interview yesterday, but it didnt go very well. Although I know I have the knowledge and capabilities to do the job, they seemed to want somebody who knows the company's processes and procedures, which pretty much rules out anyone external.
In the meantime the threat of redundancy still hangs over me. I have got another 6 month extension with my existing company, but the work location means it's a journey of around 1¾ hours each way so I really want to find something closer to home.
Today I have/will
Up early to get the washing on and hung out, as the forecast is for a sunny day all day
Checked online banking
Made credit card repayment
Made salad to take to work
Showered using free toiletries obtained from hotel stays
Free parking at local station then train pass to work
Read free paper on the train
Free coffee/water at work
Leftovers for tea
Think thats about it for now. Have a great day everyone

Hi Karb - great to see you about! How is everything with your GF? Hope it's still going strong
Thanks for starting us off
Things for the day:
* quick wash this morning rather than a shower
* all meals from stores - soup out of freezer for lunch, fruit for snacks
* oh finish putting the blind up - arrrrgggggghhhhhhhhhhhh everything takes sooooooo long!
* quick clean up of the kitchen after work
* paid cc
* checked banking & cc statement
* read Martin's newletter. Am debating the potted herbs for a friends birthday present - debating whether I should just grow them myself!

* continue the bathroom searching
* freecycler picking up diary & extension lead later
* buy ds a birthday card at lunchtime and post - it's on Saturday!

Well done on achieving over a year with the non-smoking DNMS.
Things are good with the GF thank you. She's trying to give up smoking too (though she's not being very successful). She committed to giving up at the end of August, but smoked three on Sunday and two yesterday - though she did go the whole of Monday without one. I'm torn between being pleased that she's still smoking less than she would otherwise have done, and disappointed that she hasn't managed to survive longer than a day. I expected the odd lapse, but not so many and so quickly. I found it really easy to give up, but of course it isnt that easy for most people.

Thanks for asking Ziggy - we're marrying on a tight budget (well tight for me) and doing most of it ourselves food/entertainment/etc.
The 'Edible Wedding Woodland' is our gifts - we're moving in together next year (after 10 years apart) and in the new house garden I want an 'edible woodland' be nice to think friends have contributed to this so I'm setting up a wholesale account with a reputatible tree firm I know :money: very MSE as the trees start from about 40p - and any extra money/trees we end up with we're donating to a community woodland
Given the prices of things in garden centres pays to be savvy and get more trees for your money.
I like the idea of that - we've got so much stuff as we're both very old - so don't NEED anything and I want to avoid uncessary spends for folks in the ethos of our 'no waste wedding'.:ATotal debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there. :beer:
Total debt as of 28/4/19 £7867.38:eek:
