I was with budget DD but moved house and ended up with budget keypad .
But budget still owed me money .I emailed them several times to no avail .Then I sent them a link to this thread ,and a result they replied to say
In regards to your bill, we do a bill run once a month. Your final bill has now been generated and a refund cheque will be written in the cheque run this Friday, so you should have both with you by next week.
I am holding back to see what electric Ireland do after the end off September"Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many"0 -
This is exactly what I want too. Anything that allows me to pay for just what I have used is and is cheaper than PowerNI is good for me.
Just need to see what happens to their prices come the end of the month.
Sounds good to me too!
This whole thing of paying for energy by direct debit I think is fundamentally flawed and unfairly disadvantages the consumers. They take what money they like based on some assumption of your energy use and keep the difference until you change supplier. You lose all sense of value for money in terms of the cash value of the energy you use, and any energy saving measures you put in place take months to reflect any savings on your bills. How is that fair?
When we got phoenix gas installed over 4 years ago they gave us a calculator to work out an initial monthly direct debit payment based on number of rooms/radiators and occupants. For two adults, no kids, out working full time it worked out we would need to pay something like £80 a month! As that was more than what we spent on oil and would defeat the purpose of the whole exercise we chose to pay by quarterly bill and our bills have averaged less than half that.
If they want a monthly direct debit then they need to provide some way for an actual meter reading to be recorded every month.
Just my two cents etc0 -
Has anyone managed to find out their prices from 01st of October? I am sure they will increase them in line with the other providers, but they haven't yet updated the prices on their website (i.e. current prices valid until 30th of Sept. 13).
I want to switch, but would first like to see their new prices. Don't fancy switching twice in 2 weeks (in case they get expensive from 1st of October)..0 -

Just checked their website and still showing prices up to 30 September 20130 -
I called them yesterday, and apparently their new prices will be published on Friday.0

Just had a check there and it's still showing the prices until September 2013. Although a search on google news for electric Ireland shows an Irish times article saying that they are freezing prices until January 2014:
http://www.irishtimes.com/business/sectors/energy-and-resources/electric-ireland-to-freeze-prices-until-january-1.1550438
Wonder if that will be reflected soon on website ?
Des: Did u get switched over ok?Regards, Robin.2011 MFW # 34
Mortgage starting balance at Sept 09 - £127,224 on 30 year term. Currently balance approx £116,945 (Updated Jan '12)

Well I called today at lunchtime and was told that the prices were staying the same for the moment. 14.77p per unit (assuming direct debit and online). Forgot to ask about any contract length, but assume that there is none.
Was told again that they send a bill quarterly and then a DD lifts for that bill amount, so we only pay for what we use. Think it's time to say goodbye to Budget Energy!Regards, Robin.2011 MFW # 34

RTNI: No contract length, gives them an incentive not to bait and switch

My transfer is still not complete, these electricity companies work on a glacial timescale

Update:
According to Electric Ireland, Budget have blocked my switch!
I don't have enough naughty words to describe Budget Energy, they must be the worst electricity supplier in Northern Ireland.0 -
