Hey Guys, Great news, I got into Uni!!:j
I need to extend my overdraft with Barclays (Currently it's at £200 Overdraft) but I'm expecting quite a lot of expenses, I'm doing an Architecture degree so need a lot of materials, Laptop/Computer, Books, etc, Plus I'm not going into Student Housing I'm a mature student so would use the overdraft primarily for Rent, and living expenses.
I'd like to increase my overdraft to around £1,500/£2,000 for the 4 years I'll be at Uni.
Anyone know how I can go about this?

Congratulations on uni! Re the overdraft, can't you just ask them to increase it, or do it online?!0

Thanks man, Finally got there after 3 years of College!
I went in today to speak with the guy, he needed to see my Bank Card (I don't have it, haven't used the account for so long) before he could do anything.
I was really just asking if you can set the limit it goes up to or is it up to them?0 -
It will be up to them.
With student bank accounts they will set a limit for year 1, increase it to year 2 and then another increase in year 3.
I'd open a student bank account rather than try to get a bigger overdraft on your existing account. It should be cheaper and easier.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Yep get a student bank account this is a different product.0

I can't see that a 1500 OD will help much for rent and living expenses over 4 years (£375 per year)?
better to keep it for temporary cash flow problems
and of course they can be called in at any time0
