  • You sent FOOD in the post ? and expected a good result ? Really? Do you believe in Father Christmas ?

I'm jesting, but even if frozen, and packed in layers and layers of insulation, I'd still assume that by the time the delivery service had done their worst, even my dog wouldn't be interested.

QVC the UK shopping channel sell fresh food now and then. They refused to ship anywhere outside central England, well actually it is the company who send the food from their warehouse. So Scotland, Northern Ireland and perhaps Wales is a no.

No. A company I bought from sent frozen food in the post. And they sent it in an insulated box. As they have done many times in the past very successfully.

I buy from them regularly but they usually use a different courier and my order is always here next day. This is the first time my order will have been delivered this way.

Ok, I'm just your 'average joe', simple soul me........I'm now left wondering why can they tout a service as Express 24 if it can take 2 or 3 days.

    There's an Express 48 too....does that take a week?!

They can tout anything they want as long as the service is stated. BTW the Express 48 can take up to 4 working days depending on where in Scotland you live, so yes almost a week, if you send on a Tuesday it could take until the following Monday.

As for frozen food being different to fresh, I appreciate that but I was showing that if they suggest that fresh has to be able to last at least 48 hrs then frozen should be able to last at least the same or the company should be using a different service.

Roughly where in Scotland are you? That could explain the issue and put the thread to bed.

    From http://www.parcelforce.com/send-uk/non-account-services/next-day-delivery
    Which gives

    express24 Guaranteed 2 working days
    express48Guaranteed 3 working days
express large Guaranteed 3 working days

for my post code. Check to see if they have given the service offered.

Just checked this....my area is supposedly guaranteed 1 working day for Express 24.

Express 48 is guaranteed 2 working days.

Yes, I do realise they are different entities. :)

ParcelForce Worldwide picked up the parcels and transported them so far then handed them over to Royal Mail who were then supposed to deliver them.

It was tracked by ParcelForce up until the point it was handed over in Edinburgh.

It was definitely the Express 24 service.

It was ParcelForce Worldwide themselves who sent me an email confirming what service was used and provided a link to track the parcels. It was also them who confirmed via telephone that Edinburgh Royal Mail had the parcels. It all went downhill from there on in. They also asked Edinburgh Royal Mail to contact me with an update....that also didn't happen. Just shoddy service all round from the Royal Mail.

    this doesnt tally
Unless its some set up the have in rural areas
The PF tracking system and barcodes are different from RMs
the tracking doesnt wok under RMs PDAs
there is(IME) no mixing of PF packages in the RM system unless its a !!!! up at a Post Office when a customer posts it

Well custardy, with complete respect, the situation IS as I said.

There is no mix up, this is the system in place and having spent a lot of yesterday afternoon on the phone to various people in both ParcelForce Worldwide and Royal Mail, not one person raised any concern that this was not as it should be or is not usual.
