Hi folks,

I have a few windows 7 partitions on my computer with the following spec

Mainboard : Asus M4A785TD-V EVO
Chipset : AMD 785G
Processor : AMD Phenom II X4 945e @ 3000 MHz
Physical Memory : 4096 MB (2 x 2048 DDR3-SDRAM )
Video Card : ATI Radeon HD 4600 Series
Hard Disk : Hitachi HDS721010CLA332 ATA Device (1000GB)
Hard Disk : Seagate ST1500DM003-9YN16G ATA Device (1500GB)
CD-Rom Drive : DTSOFT Virtual CdRom Device
DVD-Rom Drive : Optiarc DVD RW AD-5240S
DVD-Rom Drive : Optiarc DVD RW AD-5240S
Monitor Type : LG Electronics W2261 - 22 inches
Network Card : Realtek Semiconductor RTL8168/8111 PCIe Gigabit Ethernet Adapter
Network Card : Ralink Technology RT2760 802.11n Wireless LAN Card
Operating System : Windows 7 Home Premium Home Edition Media Center 6.01.7601 Service Pack 1 (32-bit)
DirectX : Version 11.00
Windows Performance Index : 5.1 on 7.9

I have one of the partitions of 30gb only for online banking (as an extra security measure) about 12 gb free but over the last few weeks it seems to have slowed down so much so that I have reinstalled windows 7 on it but not sure if that is doing much good.

Other partition is not too bad speedwise but even downloading windows updates on the new windows 7 on 30 gb partition is painfully slow, though from other sites are fine. I have a good download speed normally of over 36 mbps as I have fibre.

Im using comodo firewall and avast antivirus and have winpatrol disabling most things at startup. Definitely no virus or malware have done scans with antimalwarebytes and avast.

Is it possible because its a small partition of only 30 gb that could be part of problem?

Computer was bought 3 and a half years ago.

Thanks for any advice.

Quick check - is Rapport or Trusteer Endpoint Protection installed on you banking partition? If yes, try it after uninstalling.

Thanks for reply. Well I did actually have it installed on the old slow windows 7 but as I said I am reinstalling windows 7 again on that partition from scratch, and the windows update is driving me mad its so slow downloading can stay for a long long time at 0% downloaded and the hard drive looks really busy!

Not so sure about rapport slowing me down but from past experience I know its a pain will work sometimes and other times not.

Do people think the spec of my computer is ok.

I did a post in praise of comodo firewall a few days agao and I also like avast but am starting to to get the opinion that maybe avast is a bit of a resource hog.

Used to be a fan of avg for years but the 2013 version just kept locking up my computer so hence the move to avast.
