When Can I Switch??
Hello Everyone
I currently have both gas and electric with Scottish Power. I'm on their Online Fixed Price Energy November 2013 tariff which has an end date of 21 October.
I'm likely to switch this when it comes to an end as they will just put us on their standard tariff. My question is when do I start the ball rolling on this. I'm conscious from previous switches that the process can take anywhere up to 6 weeks but I don't want to do it too early as on my bills it says I can switch but if I do so before the end date I may incur a cancellation charge.
Ideal solution would be to have the new supplier starting on 1 November as soon as the Scottish Power deal runs out so that I don't have a cancellation charge and don't get put onto the standard tariff.
Any advice/info would be great.
Thanks

I was interested in the original question. Forget the answer that there is no cancellation charge and imagine that there is. What would the answer be then?
I also want to switch by the end of November and do not wish to incur a cancellation fee.
Can I order now with a start date of 1 December?0 -
You cannot specify a date....it can take anywhere between 21 days and 8 weeks
If you are on a tariff with exit fees don't start a switch before the 14/15th of the month your tariff ends.0 -
As above, apply not more than 21 days before your minimum term ends. So in this case, on 9/11 or later. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Thanks for that0
