Balance Transfer Help

I currently have two credit cards that i have balances on and two that don't and they are not used for spending either.

The cards with balances on both have a limit of about £10k - one barclaycard plat and one MBNA.

I am still in 0% periods with both but they run out in Jan 14 and Feb 14.

The question i need help with is - is there any way of simply swapping them balances? I ask this because i will be able to have another 0% period on both but not on current balances. So i wanted to transfer the MBNA to barclaycard on 0% and the barclaycard to MBNA on a 0%. I hope that makes sense.

The other cards i have are a mint and another barclaycard (use to be an old egg one) but neither of them have a large enough credit limit to do a transfer on one of them.

Do i need to do the transfers the same day to make it work?

Any help would be most appreciated.

If the balances are close to the limits you cannot do this 'simply'. You'll have to do this using an empty card and pay two sets of BT fees. As the limits of the empty cards are smaller than the balances, you'll have to do this in two or more steps.

Are the balances in your signature roughly correct?
If so then you should be able to do this straight from BC to MBNA and MBNA to BC without needing the additional empty cards.

Are you planning to do the balance transfers now or wait until Jan/Feb time?

best to use a 3rd account to move between - avoids any doubt..

Ive found with mbna that if the card isnt used for while they stop cycling the offers over from month to month (so small steady use keeps them being offered)..

That way make the most of the current 0% to get balances down a bit more, and then do this in December\jan time to use a new deal.. and the offers tend to be to the statement date rather than the ensuin due date..
  • Thanks for the reply's. The balances in my signature are accurate and hoping to have both below £4 by the time Jan comes but not sure if will achieve this - what with Xmas being inbetween!

If i do the BC to MBNA and MBNA to BC how to do i go about this? Do i do them on the same day?

Was hoping to do the transfers in Jan to give me as much 0% time as possible.
