Due to the sher size of smart phones these days, i am considering changing to an iPhone in the next few weeks
The deal breaker previously has been the QWERTY keypad as i have large fingers and found it difficult to operate
A friend tells me that there maybe an option now on iPhones to change the keypad to an alphanumeric - T9 keypad?
Does anybody operate their iPhone on such a keypad - how do you find it?
thanks

If you turn the iPhone 90° the keys are bigger, you might find that helps.0

There is no such option, no. Just a QWERTY. Your experience with the keyboard will depend on how comfortable you are with the auto-correct feature. I find it gets in the way (produces too many changes I don't want) so I turned it off. Since then I find typing quite a chore, to be honest, though definitely quicker than using a T9.mercman1969 wrote: »A friend tells me that there maybe an option now on iPhones to change the keypad to an alphanumeric - T9 keypad?0 -

It looks like Keypad 2 is a very basic text editor type app - no auto capitalisation, and you have to copy and paste the message into a text message or email if you want to send it. And it's not free - someone is charging for a useless app like that!
OP go into a phone shop and try typing with the iPhone horizontal, it does make quite a difference to the size of the keys.0 -
Yeah......
Realise its a basic editor, but i simply cant use the QWERTY keypads....have tried
i dont type 2 fingered, only my thumb
Does it have a spell checker?0 -
When I'm holding my iPhone horizontally I use my thumbs to type. When I'm holding it vertically I use one thumb. No fingers involved either way.mercman1969 wrote: »i dont type 2 fingered, only my thumb

I don't know if that app has a spell checker, it does mention predictive text though, but it's rated 2 out of 5 stars and hasn't been updated for over a year. I seriously wouldn't spend any money on something like that.
Why don't you have a look at Android phones? There is a nice texting app/keyboard called Swype where you sort of "trace" the word, rather than lift your finger between each letter. It's very clever, and it works very well. I believe this app adds a keyboard option to the normal texting program, but I don't know as I haven't got an Android phone. See here: http://www.swype.com/
It's not available on iPhone because of Apple.0 -
Yes, plenty of T9 keyboard apps on Android. And you'll get a better phone for a lower price too.0
