Year Abroad Travel Insurance

I'm a student and will be spending this year working as an English Language Assistant in Spain. The university gives us travel insurance but it does not include some things such as trips home or to other places in Europe. I'm looking for my own policy to cover these things but most policies are "study abroad" and while i am registered at a UK university, I am not going to be studying abroad so I'm really confused as to what is the right policy for me. Please help!

  • So are you looking for something to cover the whole time or just the additional trips you are making?

World Nomads can cover you for the additional trips, though the ones back home may cause a problem even for them. If you want a long term policy then there are others like http://www.hccmis.com/uk-travel-insurance/ but be aware that they are a US company and so you've no rights under the FOS and it doesnt provide cover for countries the US arent friendly with (eg Cuba)

You might find that you are in fact eligible for "study abroad" insurance: do check.

My son spent last year as an assistant in France. I took out this cover for him:
