Hi,
I'm new to moneysavingexpert, just need a little advice please.
I just bought a karen walker jacket from Maximillia.com -an Australian e-boutique (I am uk based).
The jacket was pictured as being a chestnut brown colour and was also described as fitting 'true to size'.
I bought a uk size 10 and received the jacket and it is not the colour in the photo, it's a very pale grey and is at least 2 sizes larger than a standard size uk 10.
I contacted the store who said they could only offer me store credit if I return the item and that on the product listing it said that the colour would be different. I have no way of knowing if this is true as the jacket has now sold out and is no longer on their site but I am pretty sure it did not say anything regarding colour.
I just wanted to know if I have any right to insist on a refund and not credit as the item is not what it was advertised as, neither in colour or size.
Many thanks in advance.

Unfortunately your sale is subject to Australian rather than UK consumer rights law. I doubt many posters on here have much experience in this.
Without proof of the colour change it's going to be extremely difficult for you to get anything from them, even if you were able to take them to an Australian court.
Best to chalk this up to experience, and only buy from a UK retailer in future.0 -
That's what was I was scared of. Oh well, never mind. Thanks for your help.0

In terms of sizing, is Australia the same as the UK? I know US is very different.. so it may be that you ordered the wrong size.0

It had the UK Sizing on the listing which is the sizing I went off and it really is huge for it's size. The jacket doesn't even look like the same fabric, let alone the same colour. How frustrating!0

What design was the jacket?0

If it was a big discount you may be able to sell it on Ebay for similar money.0

Shaun from Africa:
It is a tweed blazer, but the photo on the site was in a flat faced light weight tweed with a little sheen to it in a warm chestnut. And the jacket i received is v.pale grey in a very chunky tweed.
OlliesDad: Yes, that's what I've been thinking could be my best option!0 -
Is it the Karen Walker Pennsylvania jacket?

Yes! And it says that it is a lighter shade, looks like it's my mistake then. Thanks for finding the link for me.0

The sizing is shown in AU sizes so this could account for the discrepancy.0
