Pinning a shortcut, Win8

I've got a new laptop running Windows 8.
I've got a number of shortcuts pinned to the taskbar at the bottom of the screen.
The laptop came with everything on the 'C' drive, no 'D' drive, so I created a 'D' partition and moved My Documents to it. I then created a My Documents shortcut on the desktop with the intention of pinning it to the taskbar. However, it won't pin, even although other stuff I shortcutted to the desktop have pinned ok.
So........can anybody advise me accordingly please?

You cant actually pin folder shortcuts to the taskbar (Its for programs only) but you can trick it into doing do.
Right click the shortcut you created on the desktop and goto properties.
In the target box add the word "explorer " to the start.
eg if it was "D:\docs" change it to "explorer
\docs"
Click OK, you should now be able to pin the shortcut to the taskbar0 -
Thanks, but that didn't work.
When I did what you suggested, and clicked 'Apply', I got the following message; "The name 'explorer
\My Documents' specified in the Target box is not valid. Make sure path and filename are correct. David.0 -
it needs to be
explorer.exe "D:\My Documents"
because you have a space in your folder name0 -
After preceding with "explorer.exe", it has now become as follows:
C:\Windows\explorer.exe
\MyDocuments
That will pin now, but clicking on it does nothing!!!David.0 -
it needs to be C:\Windows\explorer.exe "D:\My Documents"
I would guess it needs the quotation marks since the folder has a space in its name4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . Aint no sunshine ☀️ Octopus gas fixed dec 24 @ 5.74 tracker again+ Octopus Intelligent Flux leccy
